Introduction
Salah Times ("the App", "we", "us") is a Muslim prayer times application developed by Oliver Shooter. This Privacy Policy explains what information the App collects when you use it, how that information is used, and your rights regarding your data.
By using Salah Times, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the App.
Data Collected
Salah Times collects the minimum data necessary to provide accurate prayer times. We do not collect names, email addresses, phone numbers, or any other personal identifiers.

Location Data
The App requests "While Using the App" location access only. Your GPS coordinates are used exclusively to calculate prayer times and are passed directly to the Al-Adhan API. We do not track your movements, build a location history, or share your coordinates with advertisers.
If you deny location permission or GPS fails to resolve within 10 seconds, the App defaults to London, UK so it remains functional. A warning message is shown in this situation.
Your coordinates are never written to our own servers. They leave your device only as a query parameter in a single HTTPS request to the Al-Adhan API.
Analytics
We use PostHog (EU-hosted, Frankfurt) to collect anonymous usage data. This helps us understand crash rates, how many users grant location permission, and whether prayer times load correctly. No personal identifiers are included in any analytics event.
Analytics data is retained for 12 months, after which it is automatically deleted. It is not sold, licensed, or shared with any third party for commercial purposes.
Events we capture include: app opened, prayer times loaded or failed, location permission status, and city name (not precise coordinates).
Third-Party Services
The App integrates with three external services, each with its own privacy policy:
Receives your GPS coordinates to return daily prayer times. Your coordinates are sent over HTTPS and are not retained by us after the request completes.
Receives anonymous usage analytics events. Data is processed in Frankfurt, Germany (EU). No personal identifiers are included in any event we send.
Used for reverse geocoding (coordinates → city name) as a fallback if the device's built-in geocoder is unavailable. Governed by the OSM Foundation's privacy policy.
On-Device Storage
The App stores the following data on your device only, using AsyncStorage (a local key-value store). This data never leaves your device and is deleted when you uninstall the App:
Children
Salah Times does not knowingly collect any personal information from children under the age of 13 (or equivalent minimum digital age of consent in your jurisdiction). The App requires no account and collects no personal identifiers, making it safe for family use. If you believe a child has submitted personal data, please contact us and we will investigate promptly.
Your Rights
Because Salah Times does not collect or store personal data on our servers, there is no personal data for us to delete, export, or correct on your behalf. Your notification preferences and cached prayer times exist exclusively on your device and can be removed by uninstalling the App.
For any analytics data processed through PostHog, you may contact us at the address below to submit a deletion request, and we will pass it to PostHog on your behalf.
If you are a resident of the European Economic Area (EEA), you have additional rights under GDPR including the right of access, rectification, and erasure. Contact us using the address below to exercise these rights.
Updates
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be indicated by a new "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after a policy change constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
